In the Spring of 1966, Time Magazine published a cover that asked the question,

"Is God Dead?"

To many it was inconceivable that someone

would even ask a question like that.

Surveys had repeatedly shown that the U.S. was a Christian nation and

that 97% of all adults believed in God.

Nevertheless, Time and Esquire continued to question. In the Sixties

controversy sold magazines.

Young people it was pointed out were not as faithful as their parents.

In Germany, a reporter for The Family newspaper traveled to Giessen,

and interviewed teenagers he found at the AYA.

He asked them to answer one question,

" Is God dead?"
